Tire Rotation

How often should you get your tires rotated?

Part of owning a vehicle is understanding its maintenance schedule and keeping up with any necessary service. Routine service allows your car to operate as efficiently as possible and can even make it last longer. In order to make sure your vehicle’s tires are wearing evenly, getting your tires rotated periodically is crucial. Here’s what you need to know about the service interval for tire rotations and why getting your tires rotated is so important.

When to get a tire rotation

When is the right time to get a tire rotation? As a general rule of thumb, service professionals recommend having your tires rotated every time you get an oil change. That usually means getting a tire rotation every 7,500 miles or 6 months. If you drive more, you may need to get your tires rotated more often. If you drive less, we still encouraged drivers to get a tire rotation at least once a year. For service intervals specific to your model, be sure to check out your vehicle’s owners’ manual.

Why do you need to get your tires rotated?

As stated earlier, tire rotations are crucial for making sure your tires wear evenly and last as long as possible. Since the tires mounted on the drive wheels of your vehicle (front wheels for cars equipped with front-wheel drive) are undergoing more wear and tear, it makes sense to swap them out for the back tires. That way, those tires can take on some of the wear, extending the lifespan of the entire set of tires.
