Remember that one time Toyota made over eight million hybrid sales? Oh yes, that was today! Toyota announced<\/a> it surpassed the eight million mark in hybrid car sales and gave a brief history of what has happened during the last two decades since the first Toyota hybrid car, the Prius, was launched.

1. Figuring out how to make a hybrid car move<\/h3>\n

Way back in 1995, Toyota professionals had made the first Prius prototype, but it took them 49 days and late nights of hard work to figure out how to make it move. And even when they discovered how, it only moved 500 meters. Needless to say, the Prius and other Toyota hybrid models have come a long way since then!<\/p>\n

2. Reducing carbon emissions and saving lots of gas<\/h3>\n

Over the last 18 years of Toyota’s hybrid car sales, the company estimates some impressive savings as of July 31, 2015. When compared with gasoline-powered vehicles of similar size and performance, Toyota’s eight million hybrid vehicles have produced about 58 million fewer tons of Carbon Dioxide emissions and saved approximately 22 million kiloliters of gasoline. If that isn’t extreme efficiency, I don’t know what is!<\/p>\n

3. No plans to stop any time soon<\/h3>\n

In addition to the Prius, Toyota has introduced hybrid versions of popular models into the lineup. These include Camry, Avalon, Highlander, and the upcoming 2016 RAV4 Hybrid.
