Your range can definitely vary whether you are driving in the start-and-stop city or whether you are cruising out on the highway, and a hybrid actually usually does better in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, to provide the most useful range figures, we are going to use the combined mpg to come to our range figures. What is the combined mpg though? It\u2019s actually derived from the other two numbers, hence its name. If you take 55% of the city figure and add it to 45% of the highway figure and add them together, you will arrive at the combined figure.
