Toyota reportedly planning to introduce 8 new vehicles by 2020 Olympics

This spring, Toyota formed a ten-year partnership with the Olympic games to sponsor them through the 2024 season, including the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. The automotive company is expected to take advantage of the worldwide attention to bring about some new and exciting models over the next few years.

What new Toyota models are on the horizon?

There has been some talk about the new Toyota models we can expect to make their debut by the 2020 Olympic games. In fact, we’ve already seen one of these impressive new models–the 2016 Toyota Mirai fuel-cell sedan. The Mirai is expected to be the center of attention at the 2020 Tokyo games to help promote alternative-fuel vehicles and the future of fuel efficiency.

Other new models that are rumored to arrive in the next few years include the next-generation Prius, which Toyota is revealing next Tuesday, September 8, 2015, as well as a few vehicles not offered in the U.S. market:

  • Fuel-cell version of the new Lexus LX sedan by 2018
  • Hydrogen-fueled Toyota Crown sedan
  • Refreshed Toyota Century with smaller V8 hybrid powertrain
  • Other redesigned hybrid vehicles

Although Toyota has not made an official announcement regarding the rumors, the automaker considers the 2020 Olympic games a “mental and philosophical milestone” for Toyota. It’s safe to say the automotive company is certainly planning something big and exciting.
